Newcomers Creative Play

Adults aged 19 and up.
No experience necessary.
All materials included.
Up to 6 participants.

A welcoming, fun opportunity for recent and not so recent individuals who wish to connect in a supportive and safe creative atmosphere.

Experiment with soft and oil pastels, watercolours, collage, charcoal and graphite while learning some fun techniques and basic art fundamentals.

Lifelong artist, Shirley McMahon received her BFA from Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design. She has worked in many media including photography, painting, mixed media and presently exhibits her clay sculptures.

MAY 15 - DOODLE MARK MAKING:

Participants experiment with materials and discover techniques while exploring art elements of line and shape along with texture and composition.

MAY 22 - COLLAGE WITH MIXED MEDIA:

Using a variety of vintage and current magazine images and type, participants create compositions or story boards. Exposure to artists such as Picasso and other modern art examples will be shared.

May 29 - FUN WITH WATERCOLOURS:

Using tube watercolours participants will explore simple watercolour and brush techniques using different papers. They will play with masking techniques and alcohol and salt effects in wet paint.
