ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE BOARD PRESIDENT, Penticton Art Gallery
I am delighted to share that Erin Ashley has been appointed Executive Director of the Penticton Art Gallery, effective October 1, 2026.
Erin has served as our Acting Executive Director since May, and in that time her steady, thoughtful leadership gave the Board every confidence in appointing her to the role permanently. She brings a careers worth of experience in fundraising, program development, community engagement, and organizational leadership across the arts and culture sector, including roles with Bellevue Arts Museum, Seattle Aquarium, and seven years as Director of Development for the Washington State Opportunity Scholarship. She recently returned to Canada after 26 years in the United States, most recently as Senior Fundraising and Sponsorship Manager at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art near Seattle.
I couldn’t be more confident in where the gallery is headed under Erin’s direction. She’s already brought a real sense of stability and clarity to the role, and I’m grateful for her continued commitment to this gallery and this community.

A Curated Gallery Shop for Artists and Visitors Alike
The Penticton Art Gallery is refreshing and reimagining its Gallery Shop as an extension of the artistic excellence visitors experience throughout the Gallery.
To support this vision, all artwork and handcrafted items will now be selected through a juried process led by a committee of professional artists and experienced makers. This approach is common practice in leading public galleries and museums and helps ensure the Gallery Shop reflects a cohesive, high-quality collection of work representing a broad range of styles, media, and price points.
A juried process is not a judgment of an artist’s talent or potential. Every artist’s work evolves, and every venue has its own unique curatorial vision. Selection simply reflects the best fit for the Gallery Shop at a particular moment in time.
This process also allows us to:
● present visitors with an inspiring and thoughtfully curated shopping experience;
● strengthen the reputation of the Gallery Shop as a destination for exceptional artwork and handcrafted gifts;
● create greater confidence among collectors and visitors;
● support stronger sales opportunities for participating artists; and
● ensure a balanced representation of media, styles, sizes, and price ranges.
We warmly encourage artists to apply. Applications will be reviewed thoughtfully and respectfully, and artists whose work is not selected are welcome to apply again in the future as new work is developed and the Gallery Shop evolves.
Our goal is not simply to sell art—it is to build a Gallery Shop that celebrates artistic excellence while creating meaningful opportunities for artists and exceptional experiences for our visitors.
