1:15 - 2:30pm Seniors for Climate Flag Making (not 100% confirmed): During the past several years Seniors for Climate members in the South Okanagan have asked people of all ages to reflect on what they most love and want to protect in our world and the future they hope for. We provided them with pieces of thrifted cloth and marking pens for their work. We then mounted the completed "Flags of Hope" on cotton cords for display at well-traveled places and at events. Most of the artwork is anonymous. It was created at a number of venues including ArtWalk Penticton Secondary Princess Margaret Secondary West Bench Elementary Queens Park Elementary Penticton Farmer's Market Summerland Fall Fair and Osoyoos Pride Art Fair. If the creators were to write artist’s statements we can only guess at what they might be. We hope [imagine?] that our artists would say "This was fun, we are proud of our work. We hope our world will always be beautiful and wondrous. We hope you like our drawings and our words. Enjoy them, but we are serious. Protecting our world is important." As committed members of Seniors for Climate a cross-Canada Organization we are striving for a livable future for generations to come. Here in the South Okanagan our local group is encouraging people of all ages to think about the issue and how they can help in ways great and small. Seniors have experience passion some time to offer and considerable voting power. We invite all Canadians to stand with us and work towards a bright future. Please join in.
