Ignite the Arts 2023 Planning Update!

Get ready for the Ignite the Arts Festival, taking place from March 24th—April 2nd here in Penticton, BC! The festival features a variety of events for all ages, including a parade, mural unveil, artist talks, exhibition openings, song writing camps, and much more.

The festival kicks off on Friday, March 24th with the “Parade for No Reason” and the Square Mural Unveiling Party at Cannery Brewing, featuring a fun evening planned to keep the parents happy with beer and snacks, the kids happy with a special art contest and the Square Mural Artists available to be adored!

Saturday, March 25th, artists will give talks at the Penticton Art Gallery in the afternoon and the Opening Ceremony and Exhibition Opening will take place. On Sunday, March 26th, the Dream Cafe will host the South Okanagan Immigrant and Community Services UnBox Project and once again we will bring back the Evening of Indigenous Storytelling.

From Monday-Friday, March 27th-31st, there will be Children and Youth Song writing Camps with Corwin Fox, Spring Break Kids Camps, Adult Song Writing Camps, and the E’nowkin and 2 Rivers Remix Society “Confluence Conference” of indigenous arts and music industry professionals, with weeklong programming of keynote speeches, workshops and showcases.

The festival weekend begins March 31st to April 2nd, starting with the Opening night of the ticketed portion of the festival program at the Elks Hall. Our SPARK IT UP SHOWCASE once again will feature the fan favourite Al Simmons!  

April 1st and April 2nd, there will be a rotation of musical acts, in-the-round sessions and workshops at the following locations: Penticton Art Gallery Tea Room, Elks Hall Downstairs, Elks Hall Upstairs, Brit Bar, Dream Cafe, Cannery Brewing, and Tempest Theatre. The festival will close on Sunday, April 2nd with a Volunteer/Artist/Donor/Sponsor Appreciation Party at the Elks Hall from 6-9pm. (more information on confirmed community events on page 22!)
