Linda Swales Linda was introduced to the art of Encaustic painting 15 years ago. She had the pleasure of learning the art from Thea Haubrich, who brought the wonder of Encaustic to the Okanagan. Linda has attended many Encaustic workshops through the years. Her most recent was with Christina Lovisa, a well respected encaustic instructor from Ontario. Previously she attended an encaustic portraiture class taught by Lora Murphy. Lora resides in Ireland and teaches classes all over the world. Canwax West was lucky enough to bring her to Penticton to teach 2 classes. She is an amazing teacher and delightful person. Linda is a supporting member of the South Okanagan Similkameen Chapter of the Canadian Federation of Artists and has served as treasurer since 2014. She has had paintings entered in shows at Leir House, Shatford Centre, NK'Mip Cellars Winery, and Tinhorn Creek Winery. As a member of Canwax West Encaustic group, she has had paintings shown in group shows at Martin St. Gallery, Peachland Art Gallery, Front St. Gallery and the Rotary Centre in Kelowna. Her painting "Earth's Fragile Layers" received third place in the first "Waxing Poetic" and "Galaxy" received honourable mention in "Waxing Poetic II". Linda has also attended watercolour workshops taught by Dianne Bersea. Lessons learned have proven helpful with her Encaustic painting as well. Some of Linda's paintings have found homes in Australia, Vancouver, the Okanagan, Gibsons B. C. Manitoba, and Alberta.
