Valerie was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and started painting at the age 11 years old. She was inspired by her Art Teacher while she lived in Whitehorse, Yukon and began painting in oils. Valerie has painted in oils, pastels and pen and ink but prefers to work in acrylics now. Her favourite subjects are landscapes, animals and street scenes. A lot of her work is from the local areas. Valerie is a founding member of the West Kelowna Artists group.
